PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it. That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter.

For those of use whose attention span isn't what it was for ambient and who need something more narrative than noise, there is the sub-genre of atmospheric black metal that I'm inclined to call "monolithic". Paysage d'Hiver might be the archetypal example. But if you just want to be consumed by a relentless wall of beautiful air pressure, this is ideal.

Such an amazing album, these folks really know how to make such emotive, creative, and spiritual music. This is a must listen to anyone who likes atmospheric black metal and doom, as this crosses over into both. The ambient bits are such an excellent touch to build the atmosphere. Their description of playing this live is perfect, and something I yearn to witness one day! Much love❤️
